Services

Actrace is a dedicated library vendor, not a retail book store. All our services focus on libraries' needs. Our main customers are public libraries in the United States. We also serve K-12 school libraries, academic libraries, and other library vendors. 

We supply books, magazines, and audio-visual materials (audio books, music CDs & DVDs) in both Simplified and Traditional Chinese, with a current emphasis on Simplified Chinese books. Our partner in mainland China has over 20 years of experience in serving the library market.  We have been serving US libraries since 2003.

Backed by a strong collection development & technical service team, a partnership with OCLC, and an extexsive publisher network in China, we are able to offer a 100% OCLC cataloging and an average fulfilment rate of over 99%.

  • Selection

    Thousands of new books published in China every month.  It’s difficult to make good selection even for experienced librarians.

    We offer our help by recommending only the most popular and revelant titles on the market.  Our quarterly catalogs (in Excel and online store) only include the top sellers.  Our list includes inforamtion in both Chinese and English. Please contact us (mail@actrace.com) if you want to be on our catalog distribution list. 

    Libraries can select titles not in our catalogs as well. Many of our customers ordered titles requested by their patrons, need replacements in their collection, or they saw from other sources. 

    We can also customize our selection based on your specific requirements.  OCLC and many libraries rely on our expertise for their title selections.

     

    We make our recommendations prior to acquiring materials, therefore avoid any bias due to inventory concerns.  Our extensive publisher network ensures a quick acquisition and high fulfillment rate (>99%).

    Our online bookstore (www.ChineseLibrarySolution.com) lists publications specially tailored for public and school libraries.

  • Cataloging

    Cataloging Chinese materials is the most challenging task for libraries in U.S.   We partner with Online Computer Library Center (OCLC) to offer you original cataloging and/or automated copy cataloging for free. 

    We do the original cataloging to make sure every book and Audio-Visual title delivered from us will have an OCLC-MARC in OCLC’s WorldCat, ready for you to copy.  Those records can also be sent to you in batch automatically through OCLC’s WorldCat Cataloging Partners (formerly PromptCat) service.

  • Processing

    We can provide cover lamination, labeling, stamping, or other physical processing to your specifications.

  • Pre-Selected Sets

    For libraries without language specialists, we offer the following pre-selected language sets that can help you to build a Chinese collection with ease (prices include shipping and cataloging*):

  • Ordering

    We accept purchase orders through EDI, email (mail@actrace.com), fax (800 399 9786), mail, phone (800 399 9786), or online store. It takes 2-3 months to fill the orders.  We generally ship orders to libraries through FedEx Ground or USPS library mail.
